该单位成立于1982年，是隶属于青岛市房产置业集团有限公司的全民事业单位，是经市科委认定的市属科研所之一，是山东省唯一一所白蚁防治研究所，也是山东省第一家对城市害虫进行防治和研究的机构，现为中国白蚁防治专业委员会常务理事单位。下设工程部、技术服务部、研究室、质管部、办公室、财务部等六个部门。曾多次获得“全国白蚁防治先进单位”、“青岛市文明标兵单位”等荣誉称号。2003年获得农业部颁发的“农药登记药效试验单位资格”证书，一次性通过了“GB/T19001—2000质量体系认证”，和“青岛市科技咨询业信誉评审AAA级资质” 证书。其工作的主要职责是：贯彻执行有关白蚁防治的法律、法规、规章；开展白蚁及城市害虫的防治与研究；提供技术咨询、技术服务、技术转让及合作开发项目等。
　　经过多年的探索，该单位在白蚁及城市害虫防治领域取得了显著的成绩，现已与国内数家有国际合作项目的公司进行了合作，为他们提供了防治白蚁的技术支持，还针对市场需求，成功研制了高效低毒灭蟑螂、蚂蚁的新药—“杀蟑灵”，该成果获青岛市科技进步三等奖，为市内外各大宾馆、医院、体育馆、居民住宅等灭治害虫，取得了良好的社会效益和经济效益。

　Established in 1982, this institute (Center), a state-owned unit subordinate to Qingdao Real Estate Development (Group) Co.Ltd., is one of the municipal scientific research institutions assigned by the Qingdao Municipal Science Committee. As the unique institute for prevention and control of termites of Shandong Province and the first research organization for prevention and control of urban insects of Shandong Province, it has now been a member of the standing committee of the China Specialized Committee of Prevention and Control of Termites. Administratively it has six branches: the Engineering Department, the Technology Service Department, the Research Department, the Quality Control Department, the Finance Department and the Administrative Office. It has won the honorary titles for many times so far, such as the National Advanced Unit for Prevention and Control of Termites and the Civilized Model Unit of Qingdao. This year (2003), it has obtained the credentials of the experimental unit for effect of registered pesticides, issued by the Agricultural Department of China, and the credentials of credit class AAA of the scientific and technological consultants of Qingdao, as well as the certificate of the Quality System GB/T19001- 2000. Its main responsibilities include execution of the relevant laws, rules and regulations in prevention and control of termites, research of prevention and control of urban insects, consultative and technological services, technological transfer and cooperative development projects, etc.

　With its remarkable achievements in prevention and control of termites and urban insects through many years’ explorations, it has now cooperated with a few of companies undertaking some international cooperation projects and provided them with technological supports in prevention and control of termites. It has also developed a new pesticide with high effect and low toxicity — “Shazhangling”, specially to meet the market demands in killing cockroach and ants. This pesticide has won the third award for scientific and technological progress of Qingdao. Now it is widely used for killing pests in urban hotels, hospitals, gymnasiums and dwelling houses, making a beneficial result socially and economically.
